MARK THE OCCASION: Define Your Style
As we continue to host at home and create intimate events, in order to be together during this time - the question arises “what's my style?” There are endless possibilities when it comes to design and you can truly draw inspiration from so many different aspects of life.
Glam? Natural? Nautical? Romantic? Modern? It can easily become overwhelming, even when simply hosting an intimate affair. The trick is to create something unique to you that allows guests to step into a personal experience rather than just a pretty space.
People tend to think about linens, florals, and more obvious party items when asked for their hosting style, but it can be derived from absolutely anything. Think about your taste in hotels, books, art, movies and food to really get a grasp on what you like. It can be as simple as a color that you’re drawn to, or as granular as a particular chair from a hotel you once visited in Paris.
OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER:
YOUR AUDIENCE
Who are your guests and what are they like? Although you want to showcase your personal style, definitely keep in the mind the guests you are hosting and what they will enjoy.
THE FORMALITY
Another factor to think about is the formality of the event. Is it a casual get-together in your home or an intimate wedding? This should also be thought through when combing through inspiration.
THE SEASON
If you love the idea of a garden party, but it's winter - it simply won’t work. So make sure to factor in the seasonality of your aesthetic.
